A Brief History of Shelby Cars
The first Shelby GT350 was built in 1965 and was the first car to be reimagined by Shelby. Opting for a 4.7ltr V8 and a complete overhaul, he provided the car with the racing pedigree it deserved.
After the first year, the 1966 GT350 combined luxury with a comfortable driving experience. This trend continued and ultimately lost the competitive racing edge.
Carroll Shelby ultimately left the GT program in 1969 and the rare few models that were released became a collector’s dream. So, if you’re looking to import a classic Shelby muscle car into the United Kingdom, don’t hesitate to get in touch.
The Shelby name wasn’t lost and production restarted in 2005. The name has lived on.
If you’re planning on importing a modern Shelby Mustang that’s less than ten years old, it will require an IVA test. Otherwise, an MOT is sufficient.
