Cars over 10 years old are type approval exempt but still require a safety test, called an MOT, and similar modifications to an IVA test prior to registration. The modifications depend on the age but are generally to the rear fog light.

If your car is over 40 years old it does not need an MOT test and can be delivered directly to your UK address ahead of it being registered.

It is also worth noting that we often use two types of car transporter. One of which carries multiple cars so it might be making more stops before heading to the United Kingdom. If it is a smaller transporter with a few cars it can often reduce the time to get your car to the United Kingdom.

Yes, you can apply for the Transfer of Residence (ToR) scheme when moving to the UK from Slovakia. The scheme is designed to provide relief from customs duties and taxes when you’re relocating your usual place of residence to the UK.

Eligibility typically includes having been living outside the UK for at least 12 consecutive months and having owned and used the items you’re importing for at least 6 months. You complete the Transfer of Residence application form and submit it with supporting documentation to HMRC. If approved, you receive a Transfer of Residence reference number, which is used on the customs declaration when your items arrive in the UK.
